Belmar Mayor Makes Fun of Staten Island Residents, Women in Newsletter
The mayor of Belmar, NJ, is getting a lot of heat for comments he made in the Belmar Summer Rental News. He says the newsletter was meant to show renters how they are perceived by year-round residents. He labeled some people "guidos," made fun of Staten Island women, as well as women with blonde hair. Read the newsletter HERE and tell us what YOU think! Post your comments below...
I agree with the mayor. Hey, look, the new yorkers earned the rep that they have, no one gave it to them, we just call it like we see it.
Had the new yorkers been nicer, more orderly, more respectful then they would have earned the rep of that, but they choose to be the way they are so now don't get ticked off when people call them what they really are..
Why do they come to our beaches anyway? Does NY rot that bad where is doesn't have nice places to go? Or did they ruin their beaches and now try to ruin our beaches and get ticked when we stop them...
As a NJ resident I would like to see the three bridges closed every weekend during the summer, and hey, if your going to drag, pull, and crawl yourself and whatever else you have over the bridges to our state, then PLAY BY OUR RULES AND DON'T COMPLAIN..
Get over it people. 1. You guys have no idea what that city has to deal with. 2. A publisher writes for the Mayor not the Mayor himself.

I cant believe the nerve of this mayor
clearly this is a major who is fustrated with the things that happen in belmar during the summer but this major should be more professionaly about the issue since being this town needs the tourist money since being it mainly is a get away town for people of new york

Belmar thrives on Staten Islands money!!
If it wasn't for the "Guidos" bombarding that shanty town it would be just that a shanty beach town, filled with dirty looking guys that are in need of haircuts, and gross looking girls that need some beauty and style tips not to mention pedicures. The fact that they poked fun at Staten Island is in poor taste. We all know how gross and wierd those jersey shore residents are but do we poke fun at them in public NO! And why is that? Because the "Guido" as we're labeled was raised with more respect and class than these dirty hillbillies! As for Candy Andy's comment, the only reason i can see for him having such a chip on his shoulder towards Staten Island girls and guys is most likely he was used and abused by a Staten Island girl for a Staten Island guy, a word of advise Andy...GET OVER IT!

Belmar Mayor Makes Fun of Staten Island Residents, Women in Newsletter
If he meant to be entertaining he came off as insulting to many people. Especially the women. In the newsletter he makes these women from Boonton, NJ and Staten Island sound like idiots. Even the blonde women who couldn't figure out how to take out their garbage are portrayed in a negative light. Just wrong and disrespectful. The comments about the Guido's - not cool either. What was he thinking? These people spend money there by renting and keep the community afloat. He's got no problem taking all of their money that's for sure. His goal was to show renters how year round residents perceive their conduct and he totally missed the mark!! The mayor should have thought before he put out this newsletter. In the next one, he should issue a huge apology to everyone he insulted.

You're kidding, right?
Guido is not considered an insult by the over-tanned, over-geled guys this is referring to. They are proud of being such ridiculous stereotypes.
And the SI comment was right on. Obviously you have never dated someone from SI or you would understand. The guys are even worse than the women.
You guys are reaching to be "offended" by this crap. Get a life and find something more interesting to talk about on the air.
